Lineage statement
The data is derived from Geoscience Australia's Australian Landslide Database, which is extracted directly and converted into a spatial Arcinfo coverage. Items feature and UFI are added to complete the quality assurance.Landslide data are obtained from a variety of sources including reports from landslide spotters, field observations by Geoscience Australia staff, newspaper reports, technical reports, radio and TV news reports. The accuracy of technical reports and reports by trained observers is usually good. The accuracy and detail of other reports, for example by the media, is variable.
