Resource Abstract:
The University of Washington recovered 8 current meters, B,C,N,O,S,V,Z,AA deployed on the continental shelf off the Washington coast. Current meters used were Braincon (BR) instruments measuring speed and direction. Data was sampled in 20 minute intervals, then edited for spurious values. Smoothing was done on the components of the velocity vector, using a 9 point binomial filter. Data file format is plain text.

purpose:
The Shelf Observations near the Columbia River Mouth project 1967 1969 was sponsored by the United States Atomic Energy Commission Contract AT(45-1)-1725 to Dr. C. Barnes at the University of Washington. The purpose of this study was to directly measure the current directions and magnitudes on the continental shelf off the coast of Washington. Project information and recovery notes are from T.S. Hopkins, 1971, Velocity, Temperature, and Pressure Observations from Moored Meters on the Shelf Near the Columbia River Mouth, 1967 1969, University of Washington, Department of Oceanography, Special Report 45.
