Resource Abstract:
description: This digital data set is a compilation of reference points representing surface-water features, ground-water levels, and topographic settings in California that were used for the regional ground-water potential map by Bedinger and Harrill (2004). The regional ground-water potential map was developed to assess potential interbasin flow in the Death Valley regional ground-water flow system (DVRFS), a 100,000-square-kilometer region of southern Nevada and California. To obtain an adequate network of control points, Bedinger and Harrill (2004) also used regional potential altitudes derived from springs and deep well data. A set of general guidelines was developed to relate regional ground-water potential to these more readily observed surface and near-surface ground-water levels and to hydrologic characteristics of ground-water basins in the DVRFS (see "Larger Work Citation", Appendix 1).; abstract: This digital data set is a compilation of reference points representing surface-water features, ground-water levels, and topographic settings in California that were used for the regional ground-water potential map by Bedinger and Harrill (2004).
