Dataset Identification:

Resource Abstract:
Terrain data, as defined in FEMA Guidelines and Specifications, Appendix M: Data Capture Standards, describes the digital topographic data that was used to create the elevation data representing the terrain environment of a watershed and/or floodplain. Terrain data requirements allow for flexibility in the types of information provided as sources used to produce final terrain deliverables. Once this type of data is provided, FEMA will be able to account for the origins of the flood study elevation data. (Source: FEMA Guidelines and cSpecifications, Appendix M, Section M.4).

source description  Source Contribution: Terrain was produced for the entire county area. The dataset was derived from U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps, which were created using aerial photography taken between 1958 and 1970. This information was projected from decimal degrees to State Plane Coordinates for use and processing.Source Type online

source description  Source Contribution: Multipoint feature classes were created from the NED DEMs using GeoFIRM's "Create multi-point feature class" utility. The average point spacing was defined as 31 feet, based on the average DEM cell size. The multipoint feature classes were imported into a multi-user Spatial Geodatabase. Seven z pyramid levels were created during the processing: 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2.5, 5, 10, and 25. Bare earth (z-level 0) is automatically created. The terrain feature class is stored in the SDE geodatabase for access by multiple users during floodplain modeling and mapping.Source Type digital

Completeness Commission
evaluation Method Description  Data contained in the Terrain package highlights specific issues in the Elevation datasets. Terrain data are derived datasets that aid automated hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, the flood hazard area boundary delineations, and quality control.
Completeness Omission
evaluation Method Description  Data contained in the Terrain package highlights specific issues in the Elevation datasets. Terrain data are derived datasets that aid automated hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, the flood hazard area boundary delineations, and quality control.
ConceptualConsistency
measure Description  The Terrain data are consistent with the Elevation dataset. Flood hazard boundaries do not extend beyond the ExternalBoundary.
